My Approach"As an actress and observer of the human experience, I knew selecting a genre to specialize in as a filmmaker would be no simple feat. Commercially, I was very successful in comedy. In TV/Film, drama was my forte. The fact of the matter is, I am Chilena, and in our culture, even if we are suffering in the depths of despair, there’s always room for humor. Humor is Humanity. I knew through my training that performing comedy must be anchored in reality, the funniest performances are rooted in drama. Ultimately, which ever genre I direct, you can be certain it will pull from the full spectrum of the human experience. Authenticity is my North Star. So being dubbed “the weaver of genres” suits me just fine. :)"
